Aquatic Ruins

“Aquatic Ruins” is a series of cyanotype Prints & mixed media works calling attention to the earth's polluted aquatic ecosystems and the life that prevails there. Despite unfit environments, life still finds a way to grow. “Aquatic Ruins” not only shows how pollution affects aquatic ecosystems but also how organisms exist if only you look close enough. In this body of work I primarily use a method of printmaking called “cyanotype” It is a sun-reactive dye that can print semi-translucent items. In this case, I print trash like bottles, Plastic bags and netting she collected from the Plymouth area. Additionally, I also incorporated fan coral and depictions of fish, microorganisms, and other aquatic life living through these "trash" prints.
